Q Target Audience:

Q was founded in 1986 by Mark Ellen and David Hepworth, who were dismayed by the music press of the time, which they felt was ignoring a generation of older music buyers who were buying CDs — then still a new technology.

 


The magazine has an extensive review section, featuring: new releases, reissues, and music compilations, reviews.Much of the magazine is devoted to interviews with popular musical artists. It is well known for compiling lists. It has created many, ranging from "The 100 Greatest albums" to the "100 Greatest '100 Greatest' Lists". Every other month. The magazine is subtitled 'Discover great music'.



The magazine is most popular with 15 to 24 year olds
68.3% of readers are male whilst only 31.7% are female
70% of Q's readers are lower middle class, middle class and upper middle class (ABC1) and have high disposable income.
97% of readers rate Q as a quality magazine
Q is the UK's number one actively purchased music magazine.
